Not So Hot Without Your Hair, huh?

Hello Naturalistas,

Thanks for stopping by! This is my first time blogging so please forgive me if I violate any blogging rules or commit any faux pas :) I am excited to share my natural journey with you. I hope that we can learn from one another, as I am by no means an expert in this field. I will be celebrating my two (2) year nappiversary in September 2011. It has been an exciting journey and I have loved every minute of it!

When I first did the big chop, it was scary (I can't lie). I didn't have my hair to hide behind. It took some time to get comfortable in my skin. I soon realized that my hair didn't make me, I made the hair. I told myself "You can either ROCK this TWA, or stay at home until it grows out!" Well, I don't know about you, but momma got bills to pay...OK! Staying at home is not an option!

I put on my make-up, found some big earrings and put on my favorite outfit. I left the house feeling like a million bucks. As the weeks progressed, I stopped noticing the stares from my co-workers and passerby's. Two years is a long time ago in "natural years". Now it seems everyone is rocking their natural! Some people come to me for advice, like I'm the expert!!? I just figured out what I'm doing about 6 months ago...LOL :) But, I am always happy to encourage my sistas on their journey and I hope I will be able to encourage you too! Check back regularly for product reviews, hairstyling tips and much, much, more.

Till next time... Be Bold. Be Beautiful. Be Natural.

Peace Out!

  1. Thanks for sharing. I agree, when I became natural over 2 yrs ago it wasn't too popular, but the Natural Hair Scene has really gotten big since then. I am often asked for suggestions too. I tell naturalistas it's trial and error. And recently I have gotten frustrated my coils and kinks so I began wearing a wig. I did that for 2 months and now I am ready to tackle my hair again or at least let my stylist do something. I love my hair, just sometimes I need to switch it up a little

  2. @ Anonymous - I understand the frustration with your coils and kinks. People don't seem to think naturals have a bad hair day, but I DO! Sometimes my coils don't want to cooperate. If you live in the Houston area, i encourage you to attend our Naturally Happy Hair Meet-up. The link with more details is below or you can check out our website under the "events" tab. You'll learn about styles and products to help you achieve the look your going for. Hope to see you there!

So what do YOU think?
